“Infants were tossed into the air and used as targets for machine guns.”
Night pg.6
When I read this my jaw dropped. I know that Nazis killed in a harsh way. I didn't know they killed infants in such a terrible, harsh, cruel way. How could they even do that? I would never have the guts to kill people. I would never even thought of killing an infant. But then again every Nazi was different. Some didn't want to kill but it was a war they need a job to support their own family. Would you have ever had the guts to do that?
In this quote I see themes of cruelness and abuse of power because Nazis were told to kill Jews and not to kill in a cruel way. Some Nazis didn't want to kill and they were made to do it. So the Nazis that didn't want to kill, so they got drunk and killed people. But not as harsh. If the Nazis had a baby I don't think they would appreciate that their baby is being killed in such a way. A connection to this quote is a vocabulary word we had called despotic. That means a person uses his or her powers over others in an unfair and often cruel way. Hitler was despotic because everyone was being a bystander. No one wanted to stand up to Hitler. Which Hitler took advantage of that. What do you think that mostly everyone was being a bystander?

Good job i really enjoyed reading this post
ReplyDeletei don't think i would have the courage to kill at all.
I agree why would they throw babies and shoot them that isn't even human. I would never do that it's so cruel and mean.
ReplyDeleteThis quote shocked me too, considering infants cannot help being Jewish. Thereś no way I could do that, but I think it was really interesting that you posted about why a Nazi could do that.Good post. =]

ReplyDeleteWhen I read this quote I was as shocked as everyone else, but when you think about it, it is possible for people to act that way towards others. The Holocaust was basically the same way as slavery. Most of the Nazis didn't think of the Jews as people. Through there eyes they saw them as animals, so that's why they didn't care for the infants as much as their own children. So they basically thought that they were shooting some animal than a human.
