Killing for Bread

“A shadow had lain down beside him. And this shadow threw itself over him. Stunned by the blows, the old man was crying: ‘Meir, my little Meir! Don’t you recognize me ... you’re killing your father.... I have bread.... for you too... for you too...’ He collapsed.” Night, p. 101
I think the son is crazy for beating up his father over a piece of bread. Like why would you do that I know that you got to survive, but the father said that he got enough for both of them but yet he still kills his father for some bread. I think that the boy was reckless for killing his father and kind of sad to read that the father, maybe last family member to live, was killed just so the boy could survive. I think he could have shared the bread with his father without killing him for the whole piece. Also the kid could have tried to ask his father for some - that would have been better than to beat him to death.
This reminds me of the time when Idek beat up Elie for the bread. I was like why would Idek beat up someone for their bread just to survive. I think Idek was mean for taking Elie’s bread and that he was just pick on Elie. Also this remind me of the time we was in Mrs. Stansbury class and this man try to steal this lady soup from to survive and then he drop the soup on the ground and he just look at it after look at for a little while he ate the soup off the ground to eat something to stay alive and to eat something.
